Cruise & Fish Hinchinbrook

Hinchinbrook Hire Boats welcomes you to Lucinda. Southern gateway to our magnificent Hinchinbrook Channel, her many snaking mangrove lined waterways, and of course, stunning Hinchinbrook Island.  Fish and explore our many estuaries around Hinchinbrook Channel, which are full of wildlife! Throw out some pots and catch mud crabs, and throw out a fishing line. You're bound to catch a fish for two. Our estuaries have it all. Barramundi, grunter, threadfin, blue and king salmon, mangrove jack, cod, bream, fingermark, flathead, and whiting. Closer and around the jetty you're also in with a good chance to catch mackerel, queenfish, trevally and the giant GT's (giant trevally)

Choose Your Own Adventure!

The Lucinda sugar loading jetty is the longest in the southern hemisphere at 5.76km, and has a whopping 660 concrete and steel pylons for fish to live around. All of our licenced hire boats are permitted the whole length of the jetty in good weather. If you are hiring the unlicenced boat, you can still traverse some of the jetty in the sheltered section, as long as there's not much wind around.

And if you happen to get a day that's a bit rough, you're still in luck to enjoy a boating and fishing experience, thanks to all of the snaking, and sheltered estuaries around our magnificent Hinchinbrook Channel!

Or just simply take the hire boat for a cruise, and go looking for our fascinating wildlife. You might even see a big crocodile, dugong, turtles, stingrays, dolphins, large kites, eagles, and beautiful lush rainforest and mangroves. The secret is to slow down, to increase your chances of a wildlife sighting.

Or just enjoy a cruise up the Hinchinbrook Channel, with the back drop of Hinchinbrook Island on one side, and the Great Diving Range on the other. Choose your own adventure and get lost, in the Hinchinbrook!

Note: All hirer's/drivers must be at least 18 years old, show relevant identification, and agree to boat hire terms & conditions, at the safety brief and handover.
